Mutual Benefits: Undergraduate Assistance in Faculty Scholarship

Abstract

Traditional models of research assistance can be extended to provide undergraduates with a form of scholarly apprenticeship that offers unique advantages in higher education and beyond. In this article, student and professor describe the benefits and challenges of working together on a textbook. Although some of the consequences of their collaboration were anticipated, several of the most valuable surprised both of them.
