Abstract

Future educators must learn to design tasks and instruction to meet the needs of an increasingly diverse population. One way to enhance learning for all students is through student choice assignments. A student choice assignment matches an important learning goal to a particular course or unit of instruction while providing students with options for how to complete it. This article presents guidelines for offering student choice assignments that produce positive outcomes in college classrooms. Modeling effective assignment-completion procedures is important so that future teachers can use them with their own students.
