Abstract

The author presents an interview that she conducted with Wilbert McKeachie, a leading figure in college teaching and learning, at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. The interview's purpose is to offer advice based on McKeachie's college teaching research to new -- and not so new -- faculty members. McKeachie discusses the importance of effective testing, discussion and questioning techniques, and cooperative learning and peer review strategies to improve college students' motivation and cognition.
