Abstract

Every assignment can teach professors about the success of their teaching, but assigning the classroom drama can offer, in an intriguing form and in fascinating detail, information not only about what students have learned about the methodology of a discipline, but also about what they see as effective teaching strategies. This new assignment idea and its pedagogical pre mises are explained and possible variations pointed out, while focusing on what the classroom drama has revealed, over five terms, concerning students' ideas about good teaching. "Teaching Students to Teach (Us)" was first presented in November 1994 at the 14th Annual Lilly Conference on College Teaching at Miami University.
