Abstract

This study involved the development and testing of a peer review of course instruction program in a multidisciplinary, research-oriented department where no review process previously existed. The purpose was to create a program that would be integrated with the other ways that teaching is evaluated and would have multiple uses such as for improving instruction, making personnel decisions, structuring curricula, and bolstering teaching credentials for teaching portfolios. The peer review program was designed to be instructor-friendly and of substantial benefit to the instructor and the reviewers, as well as the department.
