Creating a Regional Disciplinary SoTL Faculty Community of Practice

Abstract

Nurse educators from several tri-state nursing programs formed a discipline-specific community to support the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL). This community of practice engages in social learning, using Wenger’s (1998) Communities of Practice as the theoretical framework. The authors describe the history, development, and diversity of their SoTL community and illustrate their attempts to enhance participation. They provide a blueprint for developing a discipline-specific SoTL community.
