Abstract

This study investigated student outcomes in general education courses in which some students were remotely located and received simultaneous instruction via interactive television. The process was acceptable to both instructors and students, neither students' reactions to the courses nor their achievement levels appeared to differ by site, and location did not interact with attitudinal or behavioral predictors of achievement. The importance of instructional design considerations in distance learning is noted, and suggestions are provided regarding the nature of potentially useful predictor variables, relevant student outcome variables, and related experimental design issue
