Abstract

The authors present the results of a large-scale survey of faculty learning community (FLC) participants regarding the changes in their teaching they experienced and the impact on student learning that they perceived as a result of their FLC participation. Responses from 395 participants at six universities are presented and compared. FLC participants described improvements in student learning as a result of their specific FLC projects (79%) as well as changes in their beliefs and attitudes about teaching (73%). This confirms the importance of FLCs in influencing innovative and attitudinal change.
