Abstract

This paper describes a narrative/case study project currently underway in the Goodrich Scholarship Program at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. A multicultural research team has interviewed culturally diverse junior/senior students who described their most difficult times at the university. Working from transcripts of student interviews, the researchers developed case studies in which issues of race, gender, and class are, to some degree, at issue. In small-group case discussions, students examined the protagonist's actions and suggested possibilities for different interpretation and action. The paper also explains the practical implications and theoretical orientation of the project and suggests plans for future research.
