Abstract

Then the Lord spoke to you out of the midst of the fire; you heard the sound of words, but saw no form; there was only a voice. Deuteronomy 4:12 In the lore of the history of philosophy, there are allusions to a public lecture given by Plato. Tradition holds that its subject was "The Good." According to Aristotle, who either heard the lecture or at least heard of it, Plato's talk disappointed most of the audience. Apparently they had hoped for something more practical than Plato's metaphysics provided.
