Abstract

This article reports the progress on Whole Person Education in Medical Services as developed by a community of practice
(CoP) in the School of Chinese Medicine, Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU). This CoP focused on service learning comprising a series of curricular, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities that foster HKBU’s Graduate Attributes (GAs), in particular, citizenship, creativity, communication, and teamwork. Direct and indirect evidence from both faculty members and students are encouraging, in that students are learning more effectively due to more proactive involvement with higher levels of service spirit and devotion. Faculty
members have been revamping teaching practices, and their self-reported changes show that the work of the CoP is benefiting teaching and learning.
