Abstract

In a community of practice effort to enhance the co-curriculum learning of science students, a group of 11 faculty members from different science departments at Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) streamlined the existing mentoring program by injecting several activities conducive to nurturing students’ communication skills, creativity, and teamwork. This more structural and systematic approach to redesigning the mentoring program not only vitalizes the program, but also fosters some elements of the HKBU Graduate Attributes. The qualitative and quantitative feedback from participating mentors and mentees provided clear direction for further improvements of the program that can be used as a tool for promoting “Whole Person Education,” which is the ethos of the University.
