Abstract

A critical issue for university training programs is how to assess the performance and growth of students across the length of the program. The preponderance of information collected in such an assessment can lead to a variety of organizational problems. University faculty might ask: How can we ensure that persons needing access to this information, such as advisors and instructors, get it in a timely manner? How can we demonstrate students' growth as we remediate their weaknesses? How can we track trends, such as collaboration skills, in students' work? The purpose of this article is to present a model used to plan and develop a continuous assessment project at one university. In addition, the authors make practical suggestions for duplicating this model by professionals from any field or discipline.
